Acceptable Use of Electronic Media (AUEM)
All GSMST students must adhere to the Acceptable Use of Electronic Media (AUEM) when using technology. The primary goal of GCPS and GSMST is to ensure that every student is provided with a safe and secure environment, both in and out of the classroom, when working with technology to enhance their educational experience. The AUEM also serves as an integrity code for all uses of technology. It is GSMST’s expectation that all students will make good choices when using their GSMST issued laptop and the GCPS network. The AUEM also serves as a practical guide for students to reference when using technology to support their instructional needs.

Student Devices
GSMST students are issued an HP ProBook laptop with Windows 11 and a suite of specialized software installed to support our curriculum. Internet access on these devices is filtered on and off campus in compliance with GCPS policy and federal law.
Software Tools
GSMST students have access to several software tools to support instruction:
Microsoft 365 - students have a license for Microsoft apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These apps are installed on student laptops, but can also be used on personal devices.
Google Workspace - GSMST course content is delivered online via Google Classroom, and students can use Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail (internal only).
Adobe Creative Cloud - depending on what is needed for classes, Adobe suite apps including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, inDesign and more can be installed on student laptops. Students can also use their Adobe license on personal computers.
Students can get help with their laptops or other technology in Tech Triage, located in the Student Research Center (SRC).
